Our commitment
Coach B Basketball is committed to providing a safe, respectful environment for every child and young person. Welfare takes priority over sporting performance.
Designated safeguarding lead
Our designated safeguarding lead is Bruno Pelembe. For a safeguarding concern, email bruno@coachb.co.uk or call 07366 654271.
Raising a concern
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For a non-emergency concern connected with Coach B Basketball, contact the designated safeguarding lead and use “Safeguarding concern” as the email subject. Avoid including unnecessary sensitive details in the first message.
Expected practice
Coaches and volunteers should maintain professional boundaries, use appropriate communication channels, avoid one-to-one situations that cannot be observed, respond to disclosures calmly, and record and report concerns promptly.
Photography and communication
Images of children should only be used with appropriate consent. Direct communications about a child should include their parent or guardian except where an approved safeguarding procedure says otherwise.
Responding to concerns
Concerns will be recorded, handled confidentially on a need-to-know basis and referred to the appropriate statutory or governing-body service where required. The designated safeguarding lead coordinates the club welfare process, maintains secure records and ensures concerns are escalated without avoidable delay.
Detailed staff policy
A more detailed operational safeguarding procedure is maintained offline for coaches, volunteers and relevant staff. It covers responding to disclosures, recording concerns, escalation, safer working practice and emergency contacts.
